I've quite enjoyed this trilogy. This third volume gives a different perspective of the MacAlasdairs, with a different sort of dragon in two ways: a woman, and the one who's stayed home in the highlands, managing the family estate and village, for the past twenty years or so. Judith has an interesting background we get glimpses of, though: for many years, after eagerly leaving home in her youth (once she'd learned to control the dual nature that develops in adolescence), she spent many years as an enlisted "Navy man", merely adding one more concealment of her nature, and accumulating painful memories of battles and mortal deaths that made the generally quiet and isolated life at Loch Aranoch a relief to return to. She's no innocent, but a practical, commanding, and generally cool figure, who intrigues wary investigative agent William Arundell soon after his arrival.Although a prolonged period where the leads feel attraction to each other only in spite of distrust, and even suspicion that the other might be behind the terrible things happening, is not my favorite sort of relationship conflict, the gradual growth of feelings was well-drawn. I liked the way the story ended, on the personal basis, though it's not completely settled whether anyone else in London was involved with the perpetrator[s]. I'm not sure whether Ms. Cooper plans more in the series, now that the siblings have each had their happy ending, but it would be interesting to see the evolution of the MacAlasdairs' interactions with the villagers and especially with D Branch, now that some secrets are less secret. Given the changing, modernizing world they're living in, seeing the next generation might be even better — Simon already has a little girl, and she surely won't be the only one. I notice in the list of the author's books that there is another part of the Highland Dragon saga already, but it's BACK in time, rather than forward. We'll see.

Night of the Highland Dragon Highland Dragons Isabel Cooper 9781402284731 Books Reviews
It was slow and boring.
Not as much action as the first two, but the steady building of the romantic attachment was sweet and fulfilling.
The three book series is great, fascinating. Different and I love that about it. The main characters are all related so there is some mutual mention but the books are all separate for each one. You'll love them.
Wonderful
Again, a good story but I wanted an epilogue to finish this story as with the others. Would've liked to know what went on later. Liked the characters and the plot but wanted to know how Ross got into it.
These stories are the best. This one is about Judith and William who is hunting the demons that are sacrificing people to create minions. Their paths cross when he comes to the area in the hunt and she is the person he suspects of being involved. But she is the protector of her area and they bump heads a little. They conqueror the evil and fall in love. Can't get better than this.
I am usually not a big fan pf paranormal shape shifter romances novels but Isabel Cooper’s novel Night of the Highland Dragon was totally engrossing and I found myself up late to finish this story.
Set in 19th century Scotland, hero William Arundel is a special agent of the Crown sent to discover information about a rather grisly murder. Will belongs to an elite group of people who research strange phenomena (think early paranormal (FX type researchers) and there is certainly something strange happening in the small Scottish town that has a castle with a beautiful woman who never seems to age.
Lady Judith MacAlisdair is protective of her people and privacy and she is very suspicious of Will. He asks too many questions. The two find themselves in a quandary, both are fiercely attracted to each other but each harbors secrets about their identity.
There are some strange goings on and Will and Judith find themselves moving from a distrustful relationship to one that becomes romantic. Judith realizes she needs Will in many ways and even though at first she is frosty and distant, she becomes softer and willing to share her burdens with Will which are many. Will finds himself falling for someone who is so much more than she seems.
There’s plenty of action in this novel. Both leads are heroic and the tension between the leads is good. Night of the Highland Dragon is a fine novel with a plot that is unique.
