This series is definitely one of my new favorites! The author does a great job telling an intriguing love story, and has created a unique story line in bringing the two main characters together.Luke Ryann is an ex MMA fighter, and Reese teaches a self-defense class. When they are paired up to work together, Luke soon realizes that they had met several years before, under traumatic circumstances. Although the sexual chemistry is there, they both attempt to fight their feelings.
I don't want to give too much away about the story, but what I will say is that one of the things that I really enjoyed about this book was the dialogue. There is a lot of humor and banter between many of the characters, and it makes the story and characters both very believable and relatable.
I also like that it's not just fluff and romance. There are some other things going on in the story -- a little bit of action, a little bit of danger, heroism, and secrets that will eventually surface. There are definitely some sexy scenes too; although nothing that is overly graphic.
I enjoyed the love story between Luke and Reese, and the author tends to play with the readers' emotions by pushing these two characters together and then pulling them apart several times. But, hey, that's nothing new, right? ;) The sexual chemistry/tension is so vivid, that I felt like I was feeling what the characters were feeling. I was completely drawn into these characters, and I felt like I really cared about them and got to know them. I was sad when the series was over.
This is only book 1 of the series, so be prepared to purchase all three books, because you will simply NEED to know what happens to these two characters! I was away with my husband for our three-year anniversary, and read this series in a few days. It was just the kind of romance I was looking to read while on vacation!
I know the series is completely, but I'll definitely be looking for anything new Alyssa Rae Taylor writes!

Reese has been in love with Luke Ryann since she could remember. Every night when she closes her eyes, he floods her dreams. Even though Luke was no longer her neighbor, he was never far from Reese’s thoughts. He has always held her heart since she was a teenager. Luke just didn’t know it.
After years of being on the road as a MMA fighter, Luke Ryann decides it is time to come home. When he returns, he never expected to see how much Reese has changed. In his head, she was always the broken girl from across the street. He always looked after her, protected her. Luke always had a soft spot for Reese. Luke knew what it was like to be hurt, so he wanted to make sure that Reese wouldn’t endure the same pain he did. When Luke finally sees Reese, he can’t believe that she is the same girl he had left behind. Reese is now a beautiful mature women, not a scared little girl. Luke isn’t sure if Reese remembers him, so he doesn’t want to remind her of who he is. He is hoping that they can just work together and go on their merry way. Little does he know, Reese knows exactly who he is.
It is obvious that the two are attracted to each other. Luke tries to keep Reese at arms length, but at the same time, keep an eye on her. He feels as though she deserves better than what he has to offer. Reese is innocent and pure. Reese has other plans though. When push comes to shove, one of them is bound to give in. Will it be Reese, or will it be Luke? You can only fight what your heart wants for so long. Yes, our heads tell us to do one thing, but most of the time, the heart wins. The chemistry between Reese and Luke is evident. It is rather explosive to be honest with you. Can a relationship work between Reese and Luke? Will Luke be able to resist Reese? How long will Luke fight his attraction to Reese? You can only fight the inevitable for so long!
I absolutely LOVED this book. I read it in one sitting and I was left wanting more. I look forward to reading the rest of this series and getting more of LUKE RYANN.
This is my first book by Alyssa Rae Taylor and she has gained herself a new reader hook, line and sinker! Once I started reading this book I could not put it down.
The chemistry and dynamics between Reese and Luke is off the charts. I love how Luke wants to be her protector and she thinks she doesn't need protecting. Reese is ready to give Luke everything - her heart, body, soul - but Luke keeps putting on the brakes. Luke is hiding/ keeping secrets about something and will not tell Reese about it. He thinks she needs to be protected from his past and these secrets, she wants him to let her in. Who will win in this battle of wills?
As you know this is book one of this series so there is a cliffhanger...and I am hanging off that cliff with my fingertips! I must keep reading to see what happens!
There are so many interweaving stories going on that you can't help but stay interested.
We learn that's there is a long history between Luke and Reese going back to when she was 10 years old. Luke has managed to be there at pivotal moments in her life and when he returns almost 9 years later, she's not sure how to feel. She's thankful and excited, yes but there's also a deep attraction and she's not sure if the feelings are reciprocated.
Luke has returned, a successful but retired MMA, and is surprised to see how grown up 'little' Reese is. He's also surprised by the attraction and tries hard to deny it.
After a situation arises where he has to. She the choice between staying or going, he's conflicted to the very end.
This story does not resolve in book 1, so prepare yourself for reading book 2 to get more details on these 2 people.
